Bran the Man asked:

Hello,
I am prescribed to Lunesta for insomnia and it works great. However I recently came across some Soma muscle relaxers that I take for my muscle spasms. I know how my body reacts to both drugs but i’m just wondering if it is safe to take both at the same time? Thank you!

I checked the drug interaction site, and they didn’t say anything… but to be sure, I would call a pharmacist. Just tell them you are on Lunesta and have a previous prescription for Soma…. they’ll tell you for sure if there is any interactions.

From drugs.com interaction checker: “Central nervous system- and/or respiratory-depressant effects may be additively or synergistically increased in patients taking multiple drugs that cause these effects, especially in elderly or debilitated patients.

MANAGEMENT: During concomitant use of these drugs, patients should be monitored for potentially excessive or prolonged CNS and respiratory depression. Ambulatory patients should be counseled to avoid hazardous activities requiring complete mental alertness and motor coordination until they know how these agents affect them, and to notify their physician if they experience excessive or prolonged CNS effects that interfere with their normal activities.”
