i read the book like 2 yrs ago and have just started re-reading it. I have no memory of him taking any of the soma or joining in on the orgy porgy, which means i hightly doubt it.

Yes he does take part. He kills himself because he had taken the last step in becomming part of the society which he hated so much. His suicide is a rebellion from this, it is saving him from a life which he found horrid and dreadful
