I have J&J’s Cordis Cypher stent. I am 64 years old, received the stent 23 months ago, and have only one stent.
I also take one 81 mg. aspirin daily.

depends on the type of STENT and the Dr’s preference.
I was told by my cardiologist that I would be on plavix for at least 2 years maybe indefinitely and aspirin for ever. When I called the company that makes the STENT they told me that 6 months of plavix is all that’s needed. So who to listen to the Dr that put in the STENT or the the company that makes them?

Many cardiologists recommend lifetime Plavix, as long as there are no adverse effects (financial or physical).

I had one bare metal stent done in March and a drug coated one done in April. With the first I was told I would take Plavix for at least 1 year. After second stent, I was told I will take it for life since drug coated stents have a higher tendancy to block. Well worth it to me.

    Whatever your cardiologist ordered.
