my doc prescribed me with clarinex and i had to buy it from my pocket cause insurance didnt cover it. it didnt do nothing on me and i was taking it daily. she gave me claritin d ,so far been 1 day on it and see no difference. i also use nasonex and she gave me antibiotics also for 7 days for an infection. i still cough a lot during day and night it gets worse, i even vomit and my nose is horrible, all runny. just wondering if claritin d works or not?

I would go to an alergy specialist, or an asthma specialist. They’re the experts. General practice MD’s have only limited knowledge on the subject.

My husband uses claritin D and loves it. But every person is different.

Go to Costco and you can get a generic Claritin for a fraction of the price. The difference between Claritin and Claritin-D is a decongestant. If you don’t need it then get the generic. Major drug stores have there own generics.

My six year old has severe allgery induced asthma and he is on claritin as well as nasonex and doctor said it was working ( he goes to a allgery and asthma specialist) but so far in one year he has had 6 attacks.. I would try it for a week or so and try to see a specialist.. He can tell you more and see if he/she needs to change your meds.. Hope you feel better.

It may take a few days to start to work. I have allergies and asthma as well, and have taken Claritin D with success. I am currently using Allegra D with Nasacort AQ spray - I’m feeling better than I have in years. I’ve found using a OTC nasal spray along with the decongestant is really helpful during those particularly nasty days. If it is worse at night, it may be wearing off - I usually do the decongestant in the AM, then a Benadryl-D before I go to bed. Good luck - feel better
