About 5 days ago I started taking fexofenadine (180mg) that my doctor prescribed me. It’s common brand name is Allegra.

I’ve become more drowsy and irritable since taking it. It’s also difficult for me to focus, especially when I’m multitasking. My mom thinks it’s the medicine that’s causing it, especially since I can get easily drowsy from something like Benadryll.

I’ve read the medicine info on the package and on the Allegra website and it only mentions dizziness as a side effect and says it shouldn’t cause drowsiness. I have to take the medicine for 5 more days but the next 5 days are exams. Is it the medicine that’s causing this? And should I stop taking it like my mom has adviced me to?
Oh and I’m 15 if that helps.

I was just thinking, I take sudafed, loratadine, fexofenadine atleast monthly some of those, and lately a lot of chlorpheniramine. Probably primarily that upto 3 or even 4 times daily.

I’m just wondering if there are any adverse health effects, short or particularly long term from taking so much?

Tramadol APAP 37.5 (Generic for Ultracet)
Skelaxin 800mg
Fexofenadine 180mg (Generic for Allegra)
Metformin 500mg
Ibuprofen 800mg

I’m pretty sure the Ibuprofen is a blood thinner but not sure about the rest..

My daughter takes 10 mg Ritalin twice daily along with fexofenadine (prescription antihistamines) & now has been prescribed Trimethoprim (antibiotics for a urinary tract infection)…any doctors or nurses on here know if it’s safe to take with those medicines seeing as our local GP was too busy or incompetent to check my daughters previous medical background…she also had Asthma and Eczema for which she takes steroid medication.

Enteric coated tablets sometimes pass right through the gastrointestinal system only to be flushed down the toilet still complete and obviously never absorbed by the body. Hence they have no benefit.

I have seen this with enteric coated aspirin and in fexofenadine .
