I have had a severe headache now for 2 days. I have tried tylenol, ibuprofen, sinus medicine, cold medicine, and cold compresses. Is there anything else that I could try that might help?

This pain goes straight toward the back of my head, lasts a few seconds to a minute and disappears. The eye doesn’t focus correctly when I have the pain. I’ve been having it on and off for the past few days. I’ve also had a dull headache that won’t go away. (I get migraines. This is not a migraine.)
No congestion. Wouldn’t I be congested if I had a sinus problem?
No pierccings and don’t wear makeup. Thanks for trying though.

The operative word here is “experiment”. I realize that pain killers are addictive, but what about a whole lifetime of mental illness. People are “addicted” to insulin and other drugs for a life time. I am new to the psychiatric nursing specialty so I’m just learning about the different drugs available. Its just my humble, naive idea to try “euphoria” producing drugs. Afterall, isn’t that the outcome that they are striving for, some happiness, some lightness of spirit so that they can at least try and be productive and experience a happy life?

My dog has been prescribed narcotic pain killers for his pain associated with terminal cancer. He doesn’t need the meds around the clock, they’re only to be given as needed (which isn’t often).

I know the obvious signs of pain, but since dogs, unlike us, never learned that showing pain may mean relief, they tend to keep it to themselves.

So what are some subtle pain signs?
